How we met the challenge

We believed the photography should be simple but powerful. An unusual or abstract image that gave a flavour of Spain or Barcelona, and reflected the country’s national pride.

Building a castell, or human tower, is a Barcelona tradition. And the teamwork involved had an emotive link with the national teams entering the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™.

Our images represented a nation working together to get their athletes to the top and win in Barcelona. The key angle we wanted capture was looking down at the castellers with four athletes on top, looking straight at the camera – one with her arm aloft as if they’d won gold.

We planned the project between the UK, Switzerland and Barcelona. And organised to have the Barcelona Polo Club on location during the shoot, which helped keep it running smoothly and overcame any language barriers.

This is a fantastic film directed by Peter Clayton and edited by Jesse Chagrin for IMG/FEI

What we achieved

The final images were incredibly striking and were used widely across the web and print media in connection with the forthcoming Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™.

“This project demonstrates Tall’s combination of creative and logistical expertise. They have a strong team working ethic, not just internally but with other agencies and stakeholders involved in a project.
This ensures that everything runs as smoothly as possible, deadlines are met and that the results exceed expectations.”
